CHINOOK WINDS: A PACIFIC NORTHWEST PHENOMENON

The Chinook winds can be a dramatic shift in weather to the coastal regions of the Pacific Northwest. These warm, dry winds descend rapidly from the peaks of the Rocky Mountains, changing landscapes and climates. A Chinook wind can rapidly increase temperatures by as much as 30 degrees Fahrenheit in a matter of hours. This sudden warming can cause
